Design Description: Flower, bird, and Taihu stone come together in a pinnacle of harmonious beauty. From up close, we see life; from far away, we see heaven and earth. These three elements each have their own time to shine. The Taihu stone’s beauty comes from the incessant battering of waves across its lifetime; the red flowers are reborn every season; the bird passes life through the generations and symbolizes the inextinguishable of life. From different angles, the water weathered stone reveals a tranquil interior. From the front, a facade to withstand the elements; from the back, a scintillating display. “A communal form” is an extension of Zhuang Zi’s saying that “all things and I are one”. The Wagtails bird in the sculpture is inspired by the famous Song painting “Red Knotwood and Aquatic Bird”. Entering the Song Dynasty where the idea that “all matter is connected as one” was further emphasized and observed through different angles, distances, and times of the day. |
