Design Concept
This design is inspired by the Jade Bi (璧), which is an ancient Chinese jade artifact characterized by a flat, circular shape with a central hole. It has been a significant cultural symbol in Chinese history, often associated with rituals, power, and the cosmos.
In the center of the jade bi is connected to a dragon throne. There are nine dragons carved on it, symbolizing the highest supremacy of nine-five (an ancient Chinese term for the emperor), representing ultimate perfection. The interior of the jade bi is adorned with a large area of gold foil, adding a sense of nobility to the piece. The dragon throne uses a fixed-color technique, making the colors more precise and the craftsmanship more challenging. The circle symbolizes smoothness and harmony, an inclusive mindset that embraces all. The contrast between the large circle and the small dragon throne is striking. The dragon throne becomes a symbol of spiritual power — a benevolent person who widely bestows virtue and benefits the world.
